About this tool
Chapters turn a long video into a table of contents, and viewers use them to jump to the part they care about.
In a video description, chapters are just lines that start with a time followed by a title. This maker helps you write that list without mistakes.
Type or paste one chapter per line, such as 0:00 Intro, 00:45 - Setup or [2:30] Result. The time may come before or after the title, and brackets and dashes are cleaned up for you.
The tool then prints a tidy list with one time format, using h:mm:ss only once a chapter passes the one hour mark.
Below the list is a checklist based on the rules in the public YouTube Help page for chapters, which may change over time.
Your first chapter should start at 0:00, you need at least three chapters, each chapter should last at least 10 seconds, and times must go up in order.
Each rule is marked with a check or a warning, and lines the tool cannot understand are shown with their line number so you can fix them.
If you also enter the video length, the tool checks the last chapter, which is easy to forget: it must start before the end and be long enough too.
This is a handy way to catch typos such as 1:75 for 2:15, because minutes and seconds must be below 60.
Tips: use short, searchable titles, keep chapters meaningful rather than very frequent, and copy the list into the description, then check the video page after saving.
This tool only formats and checks text in your browser; nothing is uploaded, and it cannot guarantee how chapters will appear on your video. YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC.
