A Christmas countdown is a simple way to ask the question everyone asks in December: how many days until Christmas?
This free page shows the answer as a big D-day number, a live clock of days, hours, minutes and seconds, and a progress bar that tells you how much of the year between one Christmas and the next has already passed.
It also counts the number of sleeps left, which is the cutest way to measure the wait. How does it work?
The page reads the date and time on your device, aims at midnight on December 25 in your own time zone, and subtracts.
If this year's Christmas has already passed, it automatically aims at next year's, so you can bookmark it once and use it forever.
On Christmas Day itself the numbers are replaced by a small celebration card, and the next day the countdown to the following Christmas starts again.
Every week the page also shows three cozy ideas, such as wrapping one small gift, folding a paper star, or taking an evening walk to see the lights.
The ideas come from a pool of thirty activities, and three are picked each week, so the full set rotates about every ten weeks. The weekly list changes on Monday, so it is a gentle reason to return and check in.
