About this tool
Color of the Day is a free page that shows one color for today, with its name, hex code, three items that match it and a short mood line.
If you search for a lucky color of the day, a daily color palette idea or a color to wear today, this page gives you one quick and pretty answer that everyone sees the same way, which makes it fun to compare with friends.
It also shows the last six days as a color strip like a little color diary. How does it work?
The page has 24 base hues such as rose, coral, butter, mint, sky, lavender and pink, and six tones for each: pale, soft, bright, deep, dusty and milky.
That gives 144 distinct colors, for example dusty sage or pale lavender, and each color is calculated as a real hex code from its hue and tone so you can copy it with one tap and use it in a phone wallpaper, a note app, a slide or a photo edit.
Every hue has six items written for it, like a rosy hand cream or a mint-colored case, and three of them are picked for the day. The mood line combines a sentence about the hue with a sentence about the tone.
The date on your device chooses the color by a rotation through all 144, so no color repeats until the whole list has been used.
That means the cycle lasts about five months before the first color comes back, and the items and mood lines rotate on their own schedule, so even then the card feels fresh.
Tomorrow's color will be different, and everyone sees the same color on the same date. A small streak line shows how many days in a row you have visited on this device.
It is stored only in your browser, and your choices are not sent to a server. Is it accurate? It is for fun. A color is not a prediction, and the mood lines are meant to be gentle and cute rather than serious advice.
Wear whatever you like. Q: Can I use the hex code? A: Yes, tap it to copy it. Q: Why is the color the same for everyone? A: It follows the date. Q: Can I see yesterday's color?
A: Yes, the strip at the bottom shows the last six days.
