About this tool
What to Eat for Lunch Today is a free daily lunch menu picker for the classic question of what to eat for lunch.
Open the page and you get one lunch idea for today, a short friendly note and two backup ideas in case the first one does not match your mood.
You can narrow the pick by cuisine, and the page remembers your choice, so it is ready the next time you come back. How does it work?
The English version has five cuisine groups, American, Italian, Mexican, Asian and Light and Fresh, with 26 dishes each, 130 in total.
The Korean version has its own set, Korean, Western, Chinese, Japanese and snack-bar food, also 26 dishes each, written for Korean lunch habits such as stews, noodles and gimbap.
The two lists are different on purpose, because lunch culture differs. Each language also has around 40 short notes.
The date on your device picks the dish by rotation through the chosen list, so every dish appears once before any dish repeats, which means with all cuisines selected the cycle lasts about four months.
Choosing a cuisine uses a shorter list, so it cycles faster. The pick is the same all day and changes tomorrow, and the two backups come from other positions in the same list.
Your cuisine filter is stored only in your browser (localStorage), and a small streak line shows how many days in a row you visited on this device.
Nothing you choose is sent to a server, and no restaurant, brand or delivery app is involved. Is it advice? It is just a lunch idea for fun.
It is not nutrition, allergy or diet advice, so please choose according to your own needs, allergies and budget. If you have a food allergy, always check the ingredients. Q: Can I get a different dish today?
A: Change the cuisine filter, or look at the two backup ideas. Q: Why is it the same all day? A: It follows the date so you and your friends can see the same pick. Q: Does it know my location? A: No.
