About this tool

A monthly budget calculator (생활비 계산기) adds up your fixed costs and variable costs so you can see where a month of money goes.

Fixed costs are the bills that stay about the same: rent or loan payment, utilities, phone, insurance and subscriptions. Variable costs move month to month: food, transport and other spending. Total = fixed + variable.

Fixed share = fixed / total.

For example, with rent 50, bills 15, phone 5, insurance 10, subscriptions 3 (all in units of 10,000 KRW) fixed is 83; adding food 40, transport 8 and other 20 makes variable 68 and the total 151, so the fixed share is about 55%.

Over a year that is 151 x 12 = 1,812. How much is left? Remaining = monthly income minus total; with an income of 250 it is 99, and the savings rate is remaining / income, about 40%.

Is it a good idea to track fixed costs separately? Yes, because they are the hardest to change, so cutting a subscription or comparing a phone plan helps every month.

The default numbers are made-up examples, not averages, so replace them with your own. Irregular costs such as annual insurance or holiday gifts can be divided by 12 and added to other spending.

Everything runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. To plan saving for a goal use the savings goal calculator, and to see take-home pay use the monthly take-home pay calculator.
