About this tool
This online timer is a simple countdown timer (also called an alarm timer or exam timer) that you set in minutes and seconds.
Type a time or tap a preset such as 5, 10 or 30 minutes, then press Start. The big display counts down, a progress bar shrinks, and an alarm beeps when it reaches zero. Why does the sound only play after I press Start?
Browsers block audio until you interact with the page, so pressing Start unlocks it; you can mute the alarm with one tap if you are in a quiet room. Can I use it for an exam?
Yes, set the exam length and keep the tab open, because the end time is calculated from the clock and stays accurate even if the display updates late in a background tab.
For example, a 25-minute study block with a 5-minute break is easy to run with two presets.

How to use
- Type minutes and seconds, or tap a preset like 5 or 10 minutes.
- Press Start; this also allows the alarm sound to play.
- Watch the countdown, and pause or reset any time.
- When it hits zero the alarm rings; mute it with the sound button if needed.
