About this tool
A unit price calculator (price per 100g calculator, price per ounce or per 100ml comparison, cost per unit) shows which package is the better value when sizes differ.
Unit price = price / amount x basis amount. Enter the price and the amount for each product, and the basis you want to compare at, such as 100 for 100g, 100ml or 100 pieces, or 1 for a single item.
For example, product A is 4,000 won for 500g and product B is 5,600 won for 800g.
A costs 4,000 / 500 x 100 = 800 won per 100g and B costs 5,600 / 800 x 100 = 700 won per 100g, so B is cheaper by 12.5%, even though its total price is higher. Is the bigger pack always cheaper per unit?
No, which is why it pays to compare. Can I compare 1.5L and 500ml? Yes, as long as every product uses the same unit: enter both in ml (1500 and 500) and compare per 100ml.
If a product is a multi-pack, multiply the pieces by the size of one piece first. Use the discount calculator to get the sale price before comparing, and the percent calculator to check a difference.
Leave unused rows at the example values or set them equal to another product. Shipping, taxes, expiry dates and quality are not included, so use this as a reference for shopping decisions only.
How to use
- Enter the price and amount (g, ml or pieces) of each product, using the same unit for all.
- Set the basis amount, for example 100 for price per 100g, or 1 for price per piece.
- Read the price per basis amount, the cheapest product and how much cheaper it is.
