About this tool

A zodiac finder tells you which of the 12 animals and which Western star sign match your date of birth.

The 12-animal cycle (Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig) changes at the Lunar New Year, not on January 1, so someone born in January or early February may belong to the previous year's animal.

For example, the Lunar New Year in 2024 fell on February 10, so a person born on February 9, 2024 is a Rabbit while one born on February 10 is a Dragon. How do I find my animal sign?

Check the Lunar New Year date of your birth year: if you were born before it, use the previous year's animal; if on or after it, use that year's animal. Why does my animal differ from the year on my ID?

Because most people count the animal by calendar year, but the traditional sign follows the lunar calendar.

Some traditions switch at the start of spring (around February 4) instead, so you may see a different answer elsewhere.

The Western star sign is based on the sun's position and fixed dates, for example Aries runs from March 21 to April 19. This page covers birth years 1930 to 2040 and uses the Lunar New Year dates as a lookup table.

It is for fun and general information, not a prediction about personality or fortune, and nothing you enter leaves your browser.

How to use

  1. Pick your date of birth (solar calendar).
  2. Read your animal sign and star sign.
  3. Check the Lunar New Year date shown if you were born in January or February.
