About this tool

This keyboard tester (keyboard test, key input checker) shows on screen which keys your keyboard really sends.

Press any key and the matching key on the virtual keyboard turns blue while it is held and green once it has been tested, and the big panel shows the event key, the event code and the legacy keyCode number.

Why would a key stop working? Dust, spilled drinks, a loose cable or a worn switch are common causes, and the quickest way to find out is to press every key once and see which ones stay white.

How do I check the Korean/English (Han/Eng) key?

Press it and look at the code: on many Korean keyboards it appears as HangulMode, while some systems report it differently, so a different name does not always mean a broken key.

A counter shows how many keys you have tested, and the recent key list helps you spot double presses, a sign of a chattering switch.

Example: if pressing the letter S gives no change on the screen, try another browser or keyboard before you replace anything.

Some keys, such as the power or Fn key, are handled by the device itself and never reach a web page, and combinations used by the browser or operating system may not show up either.

Everything runs inside your browser and the keys you press are never sent to a server or saved.

If you also need to check typing skill, try the Typing Speed Test, or use the Korean-English Keyboard Converter when text came out in the wrong layout.

How to use

  1. Click the page once so it receives your keys, then press any key.
  2. Watch the virtual keyboard: blue means held, green means tested.
  3. Press every key once to find the ones that stay white, then press Reset to test again.
