About this tool
This Morse code translator (Morse code converter, text to Morse, Morse to text) turns letters and numbers into dots and dashes and reads Morse back into plain text.
Type a message, copy the result, or press the play button to hear it as short and long beeps. How does Morse code work? Every character is a pattern of short signals (dots) and long signals (dashes).
A dash lasts about three dots, letters are separated by a short pause and words by a longer one. In this tool letters are separated by a single space and words by a slash, so SOS becomes ... --- ...
and HELLO WORLD becomes .... . .-.. .-.. --- / .-- --- .-. .-.. -..
The table follows the international (ITU) standard and covers A to Z, 0 to 9 and common punctuation such as the period, comma, question mark, slash, at sign and equals sign. Can Morse code write Korean?
Not in this table. The standard international alphabet has no Hangul, so Korean letters are skipped, and you can use the Korean English keyboard converter if you typed in the wrong mode. How do I decode Morse?
Switch to Morse to Text, then separate letters with a space and words with a slash or three spaces. The middle dot and long dash symbols are also accepted.
Unknown groups are shown as a question mark so you can spot typos. Morse is fun for puzzles, scouting games, escape-room clues, ham radio practice and secret notes between friends. It is not secure encryption.
If you want to scramble text in a different way, try the Base64 encoder and decoder. Everything runs in your browser, and nothing you type is uploaded, saved or sent.
