About this tool
This Base64 encoder and decoder (Base64 encode decode, text to Base64 converter) turns any text into Base64 and back again.
Paste your text, press the button and copy the result. Unlike simple converters, it encodes text as UTF-8 first, so Korean, accented letters and emoji come back exactly as you typed them.
For example, "Hello" becomes SGVsbG8=, and decoding SGVsbG8= gives you Hello again. What is Base64?
It is a way to write data using only letters, digits, + and /, which makes it safe to place inside emails, JSON, URLs and config files. Is Base64 encryption? No.
Anyone can decode it, so never use it to hide passwords or private data. What is the URL-safe option? It swaps + and / for - and _ and drops the = padding, which is what web tokens and links usually need.
If decoding fails, check for missing characters, extra spaces or a cut-off string. Everything is converted in your browser, and nothing is uploaded, saved or sent.
To count the length of your text first, try the character counter, and to tidy up messy text use the text cleaner.
How to use
- Choose Encode or Decode.
- Paste your text or Base64 into the box.
