About this tool
A percentile calculator (백분위 계산기, rank to percent, top percent from class rank) turns your rank into a percentage so you can compare across groups of different sizes.
Enter your rank (1 is the best) and the total number of people.
The top percent is rank / total x 100, the percentile (share of people ranked below you) is (total - rank) / total x 100, and the number of people behind you is total - rank.
Example: rank 15 out of 120 is the top 12.5%, the 87.5th percentile and 105 people are behind you. Rank 1 out of 300 is the top 0.33%, and the last place in a group of 50 is the top 100%.
The tool also answers the reverse question: for a target of the top 10% in a group of 120, the cutoff rank is 12 (total x percent / 100, rounded down). Is top 10% the same as the 90th percentile?
Roughly yes, but with ties and rounding the two can differ by a fraction, and schools or exams may use their own rounding, so trust the official report. What about tied ranks?
People with the same score normally share a rank, so enter the shared rank.
To turn school grades into an average use the school grade average calculator, and to see which exam score you still need use the required score calculator. Results are for reference only.
