About this tool
This Celsius to Fahrenheit converter (Fahrenheit to Celsius calculator, Kelvin conversion, oven temperature chart) changes a temperature between the three common scales.
The formulas are F = C x 9/5 + 32, C = (F - 32) x 5/9 and K = C + 273.15. For example, a 180 degree Celsius oven is 356 F, a 350 F oven is 176.7 C, and 0 C is 273.15 K. What is 400 F in Celsius? About 204.4 C.
Why does -40 look the same on both scales? Because it is the single point where Celsius and Fahrenheit meet.
Ovens vary a lot, so an oven thermometer is the safest check, and recipes written for fan ovens may call for a lower setting. The tool rejects values below absolute zero (-273.15 C).
For weight conversions such as kg and lb, open the weight converter. Everything is calculated in your browser, and nothing is saved or sent.
ⓘ The reference chart lists water freezing and boiling, room temperature, common baking settings and the often quoted body temperature of 36.5 C, which is 97.7 F; that figure is a general example and not a medical reading or advice.
How to use
- Type a temperature (negative numbers are fine).
- Pick Celsius, Fahrenheit or Kelvin as the starting unit, or tap a quick button.
- Read the other two scales and check the reference chart for oven and everyday values.
- Use an oven thermometer to confirm real oven temperatures.
