About this tool
Sometimes you only want a friend to see one moment of a long video: the joke at 12 minutes, the recipe step at 1:02:30 or the answer in a lecture.
A timestamp link opens the video at exactly that second. This tool builds one for you.
Paste the video address, type the start time as 1:23, 1:02:03 or just seconds, and it produces a short link in the form youtu.be/VIDEO_ID?t=SECONDS that you can copy with one tap.
It understands most address styles: normal watch links, youtu.be short links, shorts, live, embed and mobile links, even ones that already contain a t or si parameter.
If your pasted address already has a start time and you leave the time box empty, that time is used. The tracking part (si=) is left out of the new link, so you share only what is needed.
The tool only picks out the 11 character video ID and joins text together in your browser.
It does not contact any video site, does not fetch a thumbnail and does not check whether the video exists or is public, so test the link with the Open button before you share it.
If you see an error, check that the address contains a full video ID and that minutes and seconds are below 60.
Tips: put timestamp links in chat messages, study notes, blog posts or the pinned comment of your own videos.
Remember that a link can start at a moment, but cannot set an end time, and that private or removed videos will not play for others. Times above 99 hours are capped. YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC.
