About this tool

This free title length checker counts the characters in your video title and description and warns you before you hit the limits.

According to the video platform's help pages, a title can be up to 100 characters and a description up to 5,000 characters, but these rules can change, so please check the current help pages too.

The tool also counts the emoji in your title. A long title is not always fully shown. In search results and on small screens, the end of a title may be cut off.

The preview shows the first 60 characters normally and fades the rest, so you can see what might be hidden.

The cut-off point is only a rough guess and differs by device, language and screen width, so treat it as a reminder to put your most important words first. The hashtag tab cleans up a messy list of words.

Type or paste words separated by commas or new lines (or by spaces if you use no commas), and the tool adds the # sign, joins spaces inside a word, removes special characters and merges duplicates.

You see the count, the cleaned tags as chips and a one-line version you can copy with one tap.

YouTube Help says that a video with more than 60 hashtags has all of its hashtags ignored, so the tool shows a strong warning above 60 and a gentle reminder from 15 tags.

Up to three hashtags that YouTube considers most engaging may appear next to the title, so the tool highlights the first three; put your most relevant ones first.

Only use tags that truly describe your video, because unrelated tags can hurt trust. Everything you type stays in your browser and is never sent to a server.

Character counts follow what you see on screen, and one emoji counts as one character here, which may differ slightly from the platform. YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC.
