About this tool

The Visual Memory Test is a quick one-hand game that checks how well you can hold a short pattern in your head.

A 3x3 board lights up one square at a time. When the flashing stops, tap the same squares in the same order.

Every level adds one more square to the sequence, so level 1 is a single square, level 2 is two squares, and so on. One wrong tap ends the run, and your score is the highest level you cleared, from 1 to 50.

Short sequences are easy, but around seven to ten steps most people start to slip, which is what makes it addictive.

Try chunking the squares into little shapes, like a letter or a zigzag, instead of memorizing each square on its own. Your best score stays in your browser only.

After each run you can post it to this week's TOP 10 with a nickname (not your real name), and send a challenge link so a friend can try to beat your record.

ⓘ This game is just for fun and is not a medical or intelligence test; results vary with your device, mood and sleep.

How to use

  1. Press Start and watch the squares flash one by one.
  2. When the flashing ends, tap the same squares in the same order.
  3. Keep clearing levels until you slip, then post your level and challenge a friend.
