About this tool
A child height predictor (also called a mid-parental height calculator or predicted adult height calculator) gives a playful guess of how tall a child may grow up to be from the parents' heights.
The classic mid-parental formula adds the two heights and 13 cm for a boy, or subtracts 13 cm for a girl, then divides by 2.
For example, a father of 175 cm and a mother of 162 cm give (175 + 162 + 13) / 2 = 175 cm for a son and (175 + 162 - 13) / 2 = 162 cm for a daughter.
The tool also shows a range of about 8.5 cm either way, because real heights spread widely around the middle value. Can parents' height tell exactly how tall a child will be? No.
Nutrition, sleep, genes from grandparents and plain chance all matter, so many children end up outside the range. Is this a medical test?
No, it is only for fun and cannot say whether a child is growing normally; questions about growth belong with a pediatrician.
Enter heights in centimetres, and if you only know feet and inches, convert them with the length converter first. For a body check of your own, the BMI calculator is a good next step.
Everything is computed in your browser and nothing is saved or sent.
How to use

- Choose the child's sex: 1 for a boy, 2 for a girl.
- Read the estimated adult height and the likely range.
- Remember it is only for fun, and ask a pediatrician about real growth questions.
