About this tool
A running pace calculator turns a distance and a finish time into the pace you averaged, or turns a target pace into a finish time.
Pace is the time it takes to cover one kilometer or one mile, and speed is the distance covered per hour, so a 5:00 per km pace equals 12 km/h.
For example, running 10 km in 50 minutes is 300 seconds per km, a pace of 5:00 per km and about 8:03 per mile. How do I find my pace?
Divide your total time in seconds by the distance, then show the result as minutes and seconds. How long will a race take at a steady pace?
Multiply the pace by the distance: at 5:30 per km, a 5K takes 27:30, a 10K takes 55:00, a half marathon of 21.0975 km takes about 1:56:02 and a full marathon of 42.195 km takes about 3:52:04.
What is the difference between km and mile pace? One mile is 1.609344 km, so a mile pace is always about 1.61 times the km pace.
Use the preset buttons for 5K, 10K, half and full distances or type your own distance such as a 7.5 km loop.
The numbers are plain arithmetic on what you enter, assume an even pace for the whole distance, and are not training, health or medical advice. All calculation happens in your browser.
How to use
- Pick a preset distance (5K, 10K, Half, Full) or type your own in km.
- In 'Time to pace', enter your finish time; in 'Pace to finish time', enter your pace per km.
- Read the pace, speed and predicted times.
