About this tool

This cigarette cost calculator (a smoking spend or pack-a-day cost calculator) turns a pack price and a daily habit into a money figure you can plan around.

The formula is simple: cost per cigarette = pack price / cigarettes per pack, daily cost = cost per cigarette x cigarettes per day, and the monthly and yearly figures multiply the daily cost by 365/12 and 365.

For example, a 4,500 KRW pack of 20 with 10 cigarettes a day costs 2,250 KRW a day, about 68,438 KRW a month and 821,250 KRW a year, so 5 years comes to 4,106,250 KRW. How much would I save if I smoked fewer?

Enter the smaller daily count in the second box and the tool shows the yearly difference in money. Does it include price changes?

No, it uses one fixed price, so run it again with a new price if the pack gets more expensive. The default numbers are made-up examples, not averages, so replace them with your own.

This tool only does arithmetic on money and gives no health advice; it is for reference and does not replace advice from a professional. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.

To see what the same money could grow into, try the savings goal calculator, and for the whole picture of your month use the monthly budget calculator.

How to use

  1. Type the price of one pack and how many cigarettes it holds.
  2. Enter how many you use per day and for how many years you want to look ahead.
  3. Put a smaller daily count in the cutback box to compare.
  4. Read the daily, monthly, yearly and multi-year totals and the yearly difference.
