About this tool

A work hours calculator turns your clock-in time, clock-out time and unpaid break into the hours you actually worked, for each day and for the whole week.

For each row the tool takes end time minus start time minus break minutes, and if the end is earlier than the start it treats it as the next day, so night shifts work too.

For example, 9:00 to 18:00 with a 60 minute break is 8 hours, and five such days make 40 hours.

A week of 9:00 to 19:00 with a 60 minute break is 9 hours a day, 45 hours in total, which leaves 7 hours until the 52 hour mark. How do I leave breaks out of work time?

Type the break minutes in each row and they are subtracted automatically. What is the 52 hour rule?

In Korea the legal base is 40 hours a week plus up to 12 hours of overtime, so the tool shows the hours over 40 and the time left until 52. How long should a break be?

The Labor Standards Act sets at least 30 minutes for 4 hours of work and 1 hour for 8 hours, and the tool adds a note if a row is shorter.

To add or subtract plain durations, use our time calculator, and to turn extra hours into pay, try the overtime pay calculator. Results are for reference only, so check your contract and official rules.

Nothing you enter leaves your browser. Workplaces with fewer than five employees and special arrangements may follow different rules; check with the labor ministry or a labor attorney.
