About this tool

One-Line Gratitude Journal is a free, tiny gratitude diary where you write just one short line a day.

Many people give up on journals because a blank page feels heavy. Here the limit is 80 characters, so you can finish in under a minute.

Each line becomes a sparkle on the month calendar and a card in the month list, so you can look back and see how many small good things you noticed.

It is also known as a thank-you note, a daily gratitude log or a three-minute diary, and it is meant to be light and cute. How do you use it?

Today is already selected, so type one thing you were glad about and press Save. Saving an empty line deletes that day. Tap any earlier day on the calendar, or tap a line in the list, to read or edit it.

Below the calendar a daily prompt gives you a topic to think about, such as a view from your window or a small win. Use the arrows to browse past months.

You also see lines saved this month, how many in total, your current streak of logged days and your best streak. Where is my data?

Your entries are saved in your browser's local storage on this device, under keys that start with sugi-gratitude-one-line. There are no accounts and no server, so nothing you tap or type is uploaded.

The month card and the share text include only counts and streaks, never the lines you wrote.

Because the data lives in the browser, clearing site data or switching phones removes it, so use Export backup now and then and Import backup to restore it. Clear all data wipes everything for this tool in one tap.

The flame line at the top counts how many days in a row you opened this page, which is separate from your logged streak. Is there a daily prompt? Yes.

A topic changes every day, taken from a list of more than 120 different subjects such as a warm drink, a song you heard or a stranger's kindness.

The page steps through the whole list before any topic repeats, so you can use it as a writing prompt whenever your mind is blank. Q: Is my writing private? A: Yes.

The text is stored only in this browser and is never uploaded. The month card and the share text contain only counts and streaks, never your lines.

Anyone who can open your browser on this device can read them, so avoid very private details on shared devices. Q: Is this therapy? A: No. Q: Can I write in any language? A: Yes, up to 80 characters.

Q: Can I keep a backup? A: Yes, export a file and import it later.

ⓘ It is a personal habit and a bit of fun, not medical or mental health advice.
